Functional Psycho-Educational  Assessment

Functional Psycho-Educational Assessments provide a comprehensive analysis of the person’s learning strengths and difficulties in the areas of Academic and Cognitive abilities at school, or in the workplace, as well as recommended strategies for both remediaton and appropriate support.  An assessment is generally requested to ascertain whether an identifiable learning or language disorder exists in addition to a comprehensive assessment of attention, executive function, memory, visual perception, behaviour and adaptive functioning.  Individual’s attending the Grow Your Life practice for a Functional Psycho-Educational Assessment usually have struggled with one or more of the core academic skill areas (e.g., reading, writing, spelling, mathematics) for an extended period of time.  The degree to which they struggle is often unexpected given their apparent capabilities in other areas and the educational opportunities they have been provided with to date.  It is also generally the case that attempts to remediate the difficulty has not been successful, or less successful than expected.  These individuals may also be struggling to achieve academically with language related difficulties.  The Functional Psycho-Educational Assessment is usually completed in 2 to 2.5 hours.

Functional Neurocognitive Assessments

Functional Neurocognitive Assessments provides a comprehensive analysis of areas of cognition, including impulse control, attention, sustained attention, memory, decision making and executive function.  The individual’s emotional and behavioural wellbeing are also analysed to assist with the diagnosis, characterisation and treatment planning for a number of conditions (e.g., neurodegenerative, developmental and neurological).  Functional Neurocognitive Assessments can be undertaken to characterise strengths and weaknesses, monitor change over time and response to treatment or rehabilitation.  The Functional Neurocognitive Assessment is usually completed in 4 to 6 hours. 

Functional Screening of Employees for Career Pathways

Grow Your Life provides comprehensive assessment protocols for the screening of job applicants and existing employees.  Fir applicants we can All assessments are conducted by a Fully Registered Clinical Psychologist with Specialist Clinical Experience in the field of cogntive neuroscience and clinical psychology. Following the assessment, a 10 to 20 page detailed report outlining the assessment performances and recommendations specifically related to the current level of functioning is provided approximately 3 weeks after the assessments with details of evidence based strategies for remediation and suggestions for accomodation, if warranted, included.  The individual is also given an opportunity to attend a clinical feedback session regarding the outcomes of the various assessment procedures.
